Bits and Pieces
We Insist:
Well before Worlds, a number of the Senior Grandmasters insisted on playing all Worlds 2000 courses, despite the repeated suggestions by officials that they would not want play the Toboggan course. Finally, the players won their appeal and were scheduled to play the supremely challenging course.

This week, six members of the division informed Tournament Central that they would not be playing Toboggan (now that they had actually seen it), and at press time, TC was unwilling to again change the schedule to accomodate the fluctuating SGMs. The Tiawanese SGM is reported to be ready for the challenge.

Stroke Me:
There have been an inordinate amount of penalty strokes handed out by Worlds officials this week. Of particular note are Innova's Harold Duvall, who has accumulated a total of four extra strokes for turning in two incorrectly added scorecards (and he is reported to have a degree in accounting!), and Jonathan Tisue, who had been leading the Advanced division until he turned in a card that reported one worse than his true score. The two-stroke penalty dropped him out of the lead.

Forget Something?
The lost/found umbrella count at Hudson Mills now stands at an even dozen, mostly from the pro pools. Forecast looks good for the remainder of the tournament, so the Worlds auctioneers are eyeballing a stack of rain gear to raise a few more bucks!

Bits and Pieces, Cont.
Hot Rounds:
Ken Climo was back in championship form today, carding not one but two new records in one day. In the early round, he bested Ron Russell's old Kensington Tunnel record of -7 with a -9, and later shot a -4 at the Toboggan, again clearing out Russell's previous best of -3.

Big Ouch:
After successfully avoiding a rattlesnake at Hudson Mills on Wednesday, Juliana Bower was fighting out of the rough on hole #3 at Cass Benton when she got a nasty buckthorn stuck in her bicep. The injury may have contributed to her carding a seven for the hole, and a five on the next. Elaine King now trails Juliana by three strokes.

Boo-ya!
Congrats to Traverse City, Michigan's Cal Benke, an Advanced Grandmaster who slammed home his first ace ever on Thursday at HM Campground.
