Am Overview Tension Rises As Saturday Draws Near By
Sean Warley / DiscLife.com
No power and NO RAIN!!!! It was a late night for tournament organizers. Just as they were getting close to completing the pool reshuffles, the power went out at Tournament Central and sent everything down the tubes! Players waiting to find out what pool they would be playing the next day had to hang till just after midnight. Despite the glitch, it was well worth the wait. Overcast skies greeted players early in the morning, but not a drop of rain fell. Our prayers have been answered! Wind picked up to a steady 10-15 mph and temperatures were chilly throughout the morning. Tension filled the air as the leader card started the day with three players from Pool G, H and I. Jonathon Tisue, leading by three strokes after the reshuffle, had a rough morning on the monster course shooting a 5 over 77. Unfortunately, due to a miscalculation on his score, he took an additional two stoke penalty knocking him off the top card. Five players in the G pool shot a 70 including Curtis Gatlin who took the lead from the second card, despite trashing one disc from his bag and marking it “Bad Disc… Free… Free” after tacoing it on a tree at hole 12! Fellow golfers refused to touch the warped/cursed disc. ;-) There is a kind of magic in the air as the weekend approaches and the pro division is turning into a real battle. I could not resist the temptation and had to see how the big boys were shooting at my old home, the Toboggan Course. Simply amazing golf! The conditions were unlike any day we have had yet and a large gallery had gathered to watch the top players go head to head under dry skies. All the mud was cleared up and the course was playing better than ever. Be sure to check in on the latest scores as I believe the man from Clearwater set course record in BOTH rounds of golf today!! Tune in tomorrow to see who makes it to the weekend.
