Todd Branch / DiscLife.com Hi! I'm Todd Branch. For the next week or so I will be writing daily updates on my impressions of PAW 2000 (Pro-Am Worlds, 2000) right here in my home state of Michigan. You can read about what happens and what I think about what is happening along the way to crowning champions in over 20 different divisions of play. I'm excited that the largest group of disc golfers ever assembled will be playing in a tournament hosted by my friends and supporters here in Michigan. My close friends in the MDGO, A3 DISC, and some other clubs in the state have invested a lot of time, energy and money to provide other people this once in a lifetime opportunity. If you meet Gunars Nollendorfs, Steve Peck, Tony Kroes, Joe Wander, Rob Hower, Todd More or any of the other staff members at PAW 2000, please say some kind words and ask if you can help with anything.... the only pay these people will receive is our thanks. The year 2000 has been a landmark year for the Open ranks. There have been many players this year who have won or contended in the big tournaments, but no truly dominant players. Al Shack and I have played well all over the country and are returning home for the Worlds. In the Open Women's division, Elaine King has had some impressive tournaments, beating the previously dominant Juliana Bower at two recent SuperTours. The up-and-coming amateur players have been tuning their crafts in hopes of capturing a world title in the Advanced divisions. Anyone could win in any division this year. Join us at DiscLife.com all week for the most up to date and in-depth Worlds coverage the sport of disc golf has ever seen. I'm proud to be a part of this ground-breaking undertaking -- and proud to be competing in the biggest disc golf competition in history -- and will do my best to convey what's happening here in Ann Arbor to the people who couldn't make it, and to those who might be here but just can't get enough information.
