Bower WatchGrace Under Pressure By Brian Sullivan
Wednesday Update Disc golfers are always looking for advice on how to improve their games. Here's a choice tip: watch and learn from Juliana Bower. There is no player today more graceful on the course. Bower's smooth, fluid throwing style is the envy of many, and admired by all. More importantly, it has brought her two World titles. This year she'll attempt to make it three in a row. Despite her dominance in the Women's ranks, cracks are beginning to show which are leading some observers to speculate that Juliana Bower may be facing a tough battle this week against Canada's Elaine King. A five-time former Champ, King has vastly improved on her record over Bower in 2000 with SuperTour wins at the InFlight Open and the Brent Hambrick Memorial.
Bower admits she still works hard at keeping her confidence high, but isn't always successful. "I still get freaked out against some people," she says. "Very much so. Elaine and Amy Bekken, Anni Kreml, I’m very frightened of their games when I come to a tournament." We're guessing that those players feel the same about you, Juliana. Will Juliana crush the field, as she has so many times before, or will Worlds 2000 prove to be the comeback year for Elaine King? We'll have a close eye on the action and keep you updated as this exciting drama unfolds.
