Monday

This is so cool. I remember when I was ten years old and read the booklet that came with every new Frisbee. You know the ones that told you how to throw and catch in different ways. "Constorktion," for example. He was there! At the tent for the opening ceremony-The Stork, himself. So was Headrick, Hosfeld, Houck, Kenner, Climo, and a lot of other household names in the world of Disc Golf, and frisbee in general. My travelin' partner, Jim Roberts (West Virginia), was amazed that he was sitting at a table next to Stokely and Juliana. Perhaps the biggest applause came during the international roll call. What a heart pounding rush that must have been for those guys from Taiwan, Germany, etc. And although most people left before the disc golf Hall of Fame induction, I'm glad we stuck around. Luckily we didn't have one of the 7:30 rounds the next morning.

Tuesday

Have you heard about the rain? I think I bought the very last pair of waterproof socks in the whole county. Good thing. We started our round at the Toboggan course in the rain, then it was sunny and steamy, then it rained, then sunny and steamy, then rain, then sun, and then finally played the last hole in the rain again. I hope it rains on the other pools when they play that course. Just to make things equal, you know. Personally, I started off bad-never drive well in wet conditions. Then I started playing smart and consistent. Some nice straight drives to keep me in the clear. Incredible course, by the way. And I got a 3 on a 800+ downhiller. Stoked! And parked a blind 420 hyzer off another hill. But then I took a 5 on the shortest hole (222 feet)! Go figure. I'm happy though. Real happy. This has been great so far. No matter what the weather is, or how far in the rough I am, if I continue to have great players in my group like the first round, the experience will be well worth the trip. Right now I'm tied at 20th in my pool, so maybe I'll make the first cut. And THAT will definitely make it worth the trip for me.

Making this Am Journal entry short tonight Started typing late because we stopped by Tournament Central for the Jumbo Toss. Didn't even come close. Now I need to get in about 5 hours of sleep before we play two rounds tomorrow. And guess what the forecast is. "Chance of rain." Oh well, at least I'm here. Bring it on.
