Korver Loses The Lead
Wednesday, August 8

The Great Shuffle is all done, and the Winnicrew are all comfortably in A pool after today's windy rounds. Team Minnesota is posting the scores up here fast; they're doing a great job. Cuts were up before 9pm, which might be a record.

Lesli Herndon Big wows in the Women's Open: Juliana Korver has been out of the lead all day. She was tied with Elaine King for third after the morning round, trailing leader Lesli Herndon and Sue Stephens. Sue had some trouble in the afternoon round and dropped to eighth, but as of the end of Wednesday, it's Lesli over Juliana by five.

A humorous moment from this afternoon: I was playing with Mitch McClellan when he threw a drive into a tree, where it got stuck for about 5 minutes. However, we didn't arrive at his lie for another four minutes, and after watching it for a minute or so, the darn thing blew right out of there, almost hitting Linda, who was caddying for me. No penalty for Mitch!

One of the Gurthie boys - Ben - is currently in 23rd place. Ben is only 15 or 16 and is currently shooting better than any of the Winnicrew. Tear it up, Ben! All of the Gurthie family are sponsored by a Florida company that pays all their travel expenses, clothing, and entry fees. Sweet deal.

Earlier somebody handed me an Xclone that I had sold four years ago to Kevin Stewart from Ohio. It still has my name on it and it keeps coming back to me. This will be the fourth time I've given it back to him. I think this time, I'll block my name out and write his in before giving it back.

We went to the Innova party earlier tonight. Good food and a few beers. There were probably 100 people moving in and out.

We're supposed to get wiped out by storms tomorrow. I've been wanting to talk to the TDs about a contingency plan, but they're all scrambling around working hard. I haven't had to make any calls as Competiton director or as a player so far, which is just fine with me.
