Winnie Shopping: The Hunt Begins
August 30, Ludington, MI

Rumbletown started with a rumble that steadily turned into a lightning frenzied downpour. After two holes of play, TD Joe Wienshel called everyone in and initiated a re-start after the weather passed. This only left us with enough time to play one 24-hole round and one 12-hole round instead of the two 24-hole rounds and a final nine skins match as planned.

Al came out on top by one stroke over Aaron Wield. Barry Schultz was third (he stated that he's only played a few rounds since Worlds), I ended up tied for fifth. Sue came in second to Juliana, who made the trip up from Iowa. We hung around for the awards ceremony, where Al got a cool trophy and some cash.

Hyzer We rubbed elbows for awhile longer and then drove to Lemon Lake about three hours away, pulling into TD Brian Cummings' driveway at about 2am. Four hours later we got up, took showers, and headed over to the course for the one day B-tier. Al and I had some fun and finished tied for 3rd. Sue was first in a field by herself. We collected up a little more cash and drove to my folks house in Kalamazoo. I stayed at the house and had some new rear tires put on the Winnie... it really needed them. Al and Sue went up to Grand Rapids and spent a couple days shopping around for clothes, shoes, and a new Winnie. A couple new rigs were test driven but nothing was bought. Still lookin' for just the right one.

I stopped in at Dave's house to check on him. He'd been mostly partying and sleeping while we were away. He plans to join back up with us on the way to the Eric Yetter Memorial in a couple weeks.

We left Kalamazoo and headed up to Ludington for the MDGO finals. As luck would have us Maceman passed us on the road and we ended up sharing a campsite when we got to the Ludington courses. We got a campground for one night. Both local campgrounds are booked for the holiday weekend. We aren't sure where we'll be staying now. The weather is cool and windy this morning... should make for an interesting practice day.
