Keys To Success:
Course Proposal Template

Here are some tips to help win over the park decision makers:

Do your homework
What are the goals of your local park? Increased park usage? Tourism? Effective use of available space? Low cost recreation? Recreation for a wide-ranging demographic population?

Knowing the goals of your park will help you to fashion a proposal which speaks directly to their needs.

Look presentable
You may not need to present your proposal in a suit and tie, but don't show up in shorts and a t-shirt either. Your audience will take your more seriously if you look the part.

Be prepared to compromise
The New Course Proposal makes little mention of player fundraising or volunteer efforts. If you truly want your proposal to be successful, be ready with volunteer workers and sponsors to help offset costs. Remember that most parks have very small budgets to work with.

Be persistent
Don't let yourself get discouraged early on and keep plugging away. Meet with park decision makers, take them out for a round, and don't take no for an answer.
